Country Specific
Chile:
My mother spent 1962-63 in Chile and attended a leftist summer session with participants from all over Latin America. The conference was about the Alianza para el Progreso, but was informally referred to by participants as the “Alianza que para el Progreso”. Papers and news articles about the conference.

Brazil/Paulo Freire:
Brazilian educator exiled to the US. My mother took a seminar with him in Cambridge MA in the fall of 1969 and then, through him, was employed at the Illinois Migrant Council adapting Freire’s methodology to work with migrant farmworkers. She has extensive notes from that work and also has a Paulo Freire poster as well as 2 of his books in Spanish.

Cuba:
My mother was in Cuba right before the Mariel boat lift with the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom. Many posters, and quite a few pamphlets in Spanish.
