Description
Graphics for the #8toAbolition campaign, which describes eight necessary steps to police abolition. This was launched on Instagram days after a campaign called #8CantWait was launched by Campaign Zero. The original campaign focused on police reform. The #8toAbolition campaign was a direct response, making the case that reform of existing police systems is not an option in the fight for racial justice. This counter campaign appeared to be incredibly effective, as Campaign Zero put out a statement apologizing to those demanding more radical change, and promising to look into more bold visions for the future. Additionally, on June 9, 2020 one of Campaign Zero's original co-founders, activist Brittany Packnett, announced her departure from the group in response to the controversy.
