Description
From the artist's website:
this limited edition print marks the 12 year anniversary of the ongoing and vaguely-defined global war on terror.
awareness is the first step to accepting that we are all a part of the global community. awareness to our surroundings gives us the ability to place ourselves into a larger context – because even as war exists only in the background for many of us, it affects what of ourselves we see, and which possibilities for the future, and the ways we define ourselves, and the ways we allow ourselves to imagine the future to be? perhaps more importantly, war allows those in power to define and shape a population of people without our knowledge.
the united states and its military allies launched the war on terror on 07 october 2001 as part of the response to the september 11th attacks. the pervasive war has included overt acts of aggression by the united states and its allies, covert operations, and widespread use of unmanned, remotely-operated aerial vehicles to conduct targeted killings of civilians and american citizens abroad. the united states continues to conduct drone strikes, as they are called, at six locations under the pretense of the war on terror.
war on terror was produced by rolling metallic grey ink over a photographic lithography plate. screenprinted text was "dropped" eight times for added dimension.

silencing the stimulation of mass media and the consumption of a corporate society are the stimuli for my work. the manufactured and the natural operate in tandem as a continuous push-pull frames endless contradictions. light, rhythm and repetition remain as constants, resulting in meditative, reductive work rooted in process and space.
