Description
This special issue of the Occupied Wall Street Journal was curated by the Occuprint Collective in the weeks after activists took over Zucotti Park in the Wall Street district of New York City. This poster folio was, in fact, the first project that Occuprint curated, and marked the occasion around which the collective first formed. The issue contains 17 different poster designs in sizes ranging from 16"x10.25 to 30.25"x20.25".
The colophon page, which appears on the verso of the title/cover pages, contains information about contributors and editors. It also features Occupy's "principles of solidarity," a description of Occuprint's mission, the suggestion that readers cut out the posters collected in this newspaper and hang them on their walls, and an invitation to contribute their own poster designs to Occuprint for future publication. The top half of the colophon page features a short written text, which begins, "The revolution will not be branded...but it will be beautiful/ La revolución no tendrá marcas...pero será hermosa." It goes on to note that "We all have a lot to say. The movement is overflowing with voices, saying in thousands of ways: Enough. Its time for things to change...All of us, in our millions of ways are creating this movement together." The collective printed and distributed 20,000 copies of this newspaper/poster folio.
